Why Should You Seek Therapy or Counseling?
And When?

During the years that I owned an employee assistance business, it was necessary for me to become knowledgeable about many issues adult individuals face such as addictions, relationship problems, career issues, grief, anxiety and depression. My role was to assess a problem and collaborate with that person to come up with a plan of treatment. Sometimes it required me to refer the person to another professional or agency in the community.

The ability to assess, provide treatment and/or refer a person to other professionals when needed continues to be helpful in my private practice.

One area many individuals seek counseling for is help in managing their stress. Sources of stress come from medical issues, interpersonal conflicts, financial concerns, work, etc. High levels of stress often lead to a person becoming overwhelmed and even being unable to function efficiently. Pervasive stress is also linked to many medical problems such as diabetes, heart disease and gastrointestinal problems.

Therapy helps individuals balance their stress and its impact on their lives. People also come to therapy for other areas such as depression, grief, and even personal growth.
